Branson, MO will go the extra mile to ensure its upcoming Veterans Homecoming Week (November 5-11, 2012) offers a bit of something for everyone.
Starting November 5, the Vendor Village at Factory Merchants Mall will host a FREE Opening Ceremony (Patriotic Welcome to Veterans Homecoming Week. Performances by local entertainers Doug Gabriel, John Tweed, Barbara Fairchild and others will take place at the Yakov Theater. Open seating, no reservations required.
At the Starlight Theater, from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. there will be a Vets for Vets Welcome Show—also FREE to vets and their families. Call 417-337-8387.
Another FREE event: General Tommy Franks Traveling Road Show and Classroom (Branson Mall) from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. This is a mobile museum of traveling exhibits showcasing cultural, social, and geographical items and info from 24 Middle East countries.
Showboat Branson Belle Troop Ship - Special Tribute Show & Dinner – “Special Salute to Veterans” Cruise, Dinner, and “Made in the USA” Show starts at 4:00 p.m. with boarding at 3:15 p.m. Cruise will be on the Showboat Branson Belle at White River Landing on Table Rock Lake. The Traveling Vietnam Veterans Memorial is a moving tribute to fallen and missing Vietnam Veterans. Stationed at the Welk Resort Branson, the wall is open to the public. A special locator book will be available to assist visitors in finding names. For details call 800-505-9355.
Veterans’ Patch Wall is a free exhibit at Grand Country Square showcasing hundreds of patches collected from all branches of the service. Patch donations welcomed. Location: Main Lobby at Grand Country Music Hall. From 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. Call: 417-335-2484
On Tuesday, November 6, join the Marine Corps Birthday Bash. There will be a 237th Marine Corps Ball at Chateau on the Lake.
During Veterans Week all World War II veterans in attendance will be honored with a special NCOA Patriot Medallion of Honor and Remembrance for faithful service on behalf of a grateful nation. Free for veterans and active military during Veterans week. Show proof of military service when picking up tickets in advance of the show which runs 8:00 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday and 3:00 p.m. Sunday. On Thursday, November 8, don’t miss the First Annual Naval Ceremony “Lost at Sea”: starting at 8:00 a.m. at Main Street Lake Cruises at the Branson Landing (behind the fountains).
